Adventures in Potty Training...Take 1

I decided that I needed to start potty training Brooklynn. She's been ready for a while. My first clue was her constant need to inform us every time she was going in her diaper. The second clue was when she began trying to change her own diaper. But with as crazy as our schedule is, we aren't ever home long enough to be consistent with it. We still aren't, but we decided to go ahead and try anyway. For about two weeks now, I try to keep underwear on her whenever we are home. I diligently take her to the potty every 30-45 minutes and she dutifully goes. So at this point, I'm trained! We'll keep working with her. She has only had a couple of accidents. We have even ventured out of the house in big girl undies. It has been better than I thought it would be. However, I've learned a couple of things that I didn't experience with my other three.

Here's the part where you can stop reading if you are opposed to too much information about bodily functions. Just warning you!

First, she has a little routine, almost OCD in nature. Wipe the front, wipe the back (even though there's nothing to wipe yet from that location) and drop it in the toliet. She does it exactly the same way EVERY time. Well, apparantly, if you have a runny nose it makes sense to add that to the line-up. Front, nose, back, drop. I about died and my reaction nearly scared her off the toliet. I don't think she'll do it again though. :0)

I also learned that to a 2 year old wearing pants without pockets, undies make a nice place to store stuff. When I went to change her into a nighttime diaper a quarter fell out. I asked her where that came from and she told me she put it in her "pocket". Oh well, at least I'm getting paid to change her diaper now, right?

This makes me laugh so hard! Pretty clever thinking to keep the quarter in your unders, who among us hasn't tucked something into our bra when the need occured? She's very advanced.
