10 years ago today, our first daughter was born,
Lauren Michelle Gleed. She was our smallest baby, weighing in at 10 pounds even. She was born on Easter Sunday which was very late for Easter. In the 10 years since we've never even come close to having it fall on her birthday again. I was induced a week early with her since my first delivery with Tyler was so bad and we were hoping to have a "smaller" baby. Since it was Easter I was able to eat a nice breakfast before coming in to be induced at 1pm. It was so much more relaxed and calm compared to my first baby, it was almost boring. Actually, it was boring. Being a Sunday there was nothing on TV and since I had opted for the epidural immediately, I couldn't go anywhere. I remember watching a lot of golf. The laboring was easy as I had the epidural and didn't feel a thing. Just before I had completely dilated, I started feeling some pain and so the anesthesiologist gave me another boost. Almost immediately I felt some pressure and I was ready to deliver. The only problem was that I had no clue when to push or if I was even pushing. The monitor wasn't working properly either so the nurse had to guess when I should push. Luckily, Lauren was anxious to be out and came really fast. The doctor asked Chris if he'd like to catch her and as he was getting ready the doctor told him he'd better hurry or he'd miss his chance. Chris made it and was able to deliver Lauren and cut the cord. She was very pink with blue eyes and white blond "fuzz" for hair. She was such a good baby and we were so excited to have a little girl. We hadn't decided on her name until the day after she was born. We couldn't decide between Lauren and Morgan but finally decided on Lauren. The whole delivery was such a wonderful experience. I LOVED my doctor...oh how I missed him with the last two.
Lauren is a wonderful addition to our family. She is so full of life and spunk. She is so creative and artistic and has a flair for all things related; music, dance, singing, theater, drawing, painting, etc. She is a great soccer player and an excellent student. She is fun to be around and loves helping adults and taking care of children. She will be a great babysitter in a couple of years. We are so thankful to have her in our family. We LOVE you Lauren!!
Happy 10th Birthday!
