Facing Fears

Both Tyler and Lauren had the opportunity to go rock climbing/rappelling with their youth groups. Some of their leaders are avid rock climbers and graciously and bravely volunteered to take a bunch of rowdy teenagers up a mountain and jump off. Brave souls I tell ya! They took the boys first and then on another day, took the girls. Tyler's group went first but I haven't seen a single picture. That's boys for ya. The girls on the other hand documented every minute. So like us, right? I was proud of both kids because I sure wouldn't have done it. They both were really excited to go but once they got there realized it was a lot scarier than they had anticipated. This was the real deal, no foam pits to fall into, no soft, spongy floor to break the fall. Lauren was pretty scared and said their "might" have been some tears. But I am so proud of her for doing it anyway. Now that it's over, she is totally pumped to try it again.  It was an all around great activity that had many applicable life lessons.

Lauren is in orange but in two of the pictures, it is someone else, but I included them just for more perspective.
