My Princess Lauren

In honor of her birthday this week, I thought now would be a good time to pick up where I left off posting about each of my kids. Princess is a good word to describe Lauren. Diva works too. Lauren has always believed that the sun rises and sets on her, that she is the center of the universe and that time is dependant upon her. Unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way and often she realizes that this is true and it upsets her. Lauren is my child that is most like me. She looks more like me and I’m pretty sure she is the childhood me reincarnated. Ask my mom, she’ll probably vouch for that. That makes our relationship a little tricky at times to say the least. Some of the things I love about Lauren though are that she is so darn smart, perceptive, attentive, inquisitive and competitive. Since she has been very little, she always wants to know WHY? How does that work? I want to do it. She loves to be around grown-ups. She wants to be involved in every conversation. Most of the other kids don’t pay attention when adults talk, but Lauren has supersonic hearing and picks up everything and understands way more than most people think. You can’t talk above Lauren. She has always been at the top of her school class and wants to be the best. If Tyler is doing homework, she wants to try it too, and usually, she can. Something else I love about Lauren is her creative side. She loves to create. Whether its art, music, singing, drama…she loves to use her imagination. When she was small, like 2, she would play with her toys and make believe little stories and scenes. I have this one video where she is acting out this whole scene (it’s a sad scene) and she is crying and carrying on. At first we were like, what’s wrong? But when you asked her what was going on, she’d stop, tell us she was playing, and then go back to acting it out. She still loves to put on plays. Quite often we have paper signs hanging around the house inviting us to a new play or reminding us of an old one. She can make up stuff on the fly like nobody’s business. She loves to sing too. Since she discovered High School Musical, Hannah Montana and her MP3 player, she sings all the time. It is fun to watch her dance and sing around the house. She is super competitive. When she sets her mind to something, there is no stopping her. She likes to be the first one to memorize the monthly scripture, the one with the most reading minutes banked, the fastest runner, score the most goals, etc. I love Lauren and her passion for life and everything she does. She is such a beautiful girl and brings a burst of joy to our family. I love her so much.
