...and because this is more fun than cleaning my bathroom, sweeping & mopping, or folding the basket of laundry that awaits, or washing the one sitting in the washer...I happily accept. I also haven't done this one before. I was tagged by Pene.BOOK TAG
Rules:
- Get the book that's on your nightstand (or whatever you happen to be reading).
- Open it to page 56 and find the 5th sentence.
- Post the next couple of sentences on your blog, along with these instructions.
- Do not go and find your favorite book; it has to be the one you are reading now!
- Tag five other people to do the same.
Now, on to the good stuff...
I'm currently reading "The Indivisible Wall: A Love Story That Broke Barriers" by Harry Bernstein. (Thanks to Pam & Stacie!)
So...what's on page 56, sentence 5?
'My mother had been here once before, and knew where to go.'
'The headmaster's office was at the very end of this hall. Classrooms were on either side of us, and through the glass panes in the doors we could see children seated at their desks, and teachers standing up in front of blackboards. Except for the faint murmur of voices that came through the doors, it was very quiet. As soon as we began to walk down this hall, though, the quiet was shattered by the clumping of my clogs. My mother had forgotten her own warning, and quickly put a finger to her lips. But it was too late. The faces of teachers stared at us through the glass of the classroom doors. Then suddenly a door at the end of the hall flew open, and out burst a short, potbellied man with an shiny bald head. The head was bent down slightly, and he came charging toward us like a mad bull.'
What do I think? I really like this book. In fact, it has been on my shelf during the past three books I've been reading and I kept sneaking a read here and there until I could finally finish up the other books. I love the time period, early 1900's and the author who was 93 years old when he wrote it! It has been a very enjoyable read and I chose it for our bookclub pick in November. I hope they will enjoy it too.

Oooh, sounds like a good read! I'll have to add it to my list, and read it sometime.
