- No photographic evidence of 1st trip to the dentist - Disappointing
- Bear-Hugging a 2-yr old while a hygienist & dentist pry open her mouth for x-rays - Stressful
- Blood-Stained, Pink Shirt - Worthless
- Tear-Stained Face, Fat Lip & Bloody Mouth - Heartbreaking
- Discovering no cavities - PRICELESS

Brooklynn had her first trip to the dentist yesterday. The other kids are all great at the dentist and actually look forward to it. McKenna was especially excited because she got to watch a movie while they cleaned her teeth. But Brooklynn woke up saying she was scared and didn't want to go. I don't know why. She has never even been to the dentist before and hasn't ever seen more than a waiting room, so I can't figure out why she was so scared, but as soon as they called her name, she started to cry. She wouldn't go back even with me with her. She wouldn't pick out a movie, look at the stuffed toys (even Dora), or sit in the chair. She screamed and screamed and I ended up having to brush her teeth. We had to take her x-rays 5 different times because she wouldn't hold still. Finally, it was me bear-hugging her and the dentist and hygeniest prying open her mouth to get a good set. I was really concerned that she might have cavaties and really just wanted x-rays. I didn't care about actually cleaning her teeth. It was a pretty stressful day. Thankfully, she didn't have any cavaties and every one in the office was as happy as I was. She would definitely have to be sedated for that. But, we've scheduled a "Happy Visit" for a few months from now to get her more comfortable with the office. We'll see how that goes. Tyler was the same way until he was about 6 or 7. He had to be completely sedated to have any work done. Luckily he doesn't seem to be scarred for life and actually likes going now. He's easy to please, his own toothpaste and new toothbrush. As for the rest of the kids, my pocketbook is going to be hit hard. Tyler had 1, Lauren 3, and McKenna, the previously cavity-free kid, had 6!!! Ouch! (Me, not her.)

Yikes what a day! Hopefully that feeling good visit will be a little better. I'm so sorry for the cavities, I'm on my way to the dentist on friday to take care of a twingey situation, oy.
I feel for you my girls recently went to the dentist and were luckily cavity free which I can't believe that when I always tell them to brush their teeth and then I check their toothbrush and it is dry.As for me I have week teeth and have had 2 rootcanals and 2 crowns and had to have some of my molars pulled the ones in the very back I would have had to have 4 rootcanals and 4 crowns I could'nt afford that so instead had them pulled. Now I floss everyday and use act flouride rinse every night and so far haven't had as many cavities. Thanks dad for the weak teeth!
Glad that ordeal is over...for now:) She is so cute that it makes up for it.
I am so sorry! Going to the dentist can be quite stressful for kids and moms! My kids are doing a good job of brushing their teeth now, though. Yay!
