Step 1: Locate a large tree

I really didn't want Chris to have to work tonight because it was the season finale of Lost and I really didn't want to have to wait until Saturday to watch it when he was home. However, this isn't what I had in mind. After dinner, Lauren was playing in the tree out back. She has loved climbing in it since the weather has turned nice. Right when Chris called her to come in and get ready for bed, she fell out. She was around 8-10 feet up and fell and hit her head and back against tree limbs on the way down pretty hard. She landed right on her back. Luckily those two plastic tables broke her fall but she still hit pretty hard. She blacked out for a second and then went ballistic.
We of course did everything wrong and picked her right up and brought her inside. Chris decided we should probably take her to InstaCare because she had an instant headache, neck and shoulder pain. They sent her straight to ER which of course was PACKED! But, apparently head and spinal injuries trump all other illnesses because they took her right back to a room. I guess it's standard procedure to put her in a brace. They took some x-rays to make sure everything looked ok. She should be fine but will be VERY sore for a few days. Poor Chris didn't have to go to work, but he took Lauren and still didn't get home until about 11pm. We are very grateful that things turned out the way they did, it could've been a lot worse.

Wow! I am so glad it wasn't more serious. Not many people can say they fell 8-10ft without any serious injuries. Glad you are okay Lauren!
I hope Chris gave her a priesthood blessing! Oh my goodness! I am so thankful she is okay. That could have turned out badly! Tell her she took after me, her grandmother. I was quite a monkey when I was a young girl and loved to climb trees. The higher the better. I too fell out of a tree, but not as high up and I hit branches on my way down and landed on my bumb and back. No one was around and I got up with the wind knocked out of me and cried all the way home! (I think I posted that story in 'When Grandma Was A Little Girl'.) Give Lauren hugs and kisses for us! :o) xoxoxoxoxoxo
O Lauren I'm so glad you are ok! Sorry about all the pain, though. OUCH!
Thank goodness Lauren is ok! It freaked me out when I saw the picture of her in the hospital. I'm glad it wasn't worse! Hope you feel better soon Lauren!
Please never let me scroll down to see a picture of my niece in a neck brace ever again! Poor thing, I'm so glad that everything is okay! Squishy hugs for Lauren!
