On Saturday morning the girls and I got up early and got ready to hike the "Y". We've always wanted to do it but we always get busy and tell the kids...oh, when it warms up in the Spring we'll go. Then we wait to long and it's...oh, when it cools down in the Fall. Lauren's soccer team hikes it every season and last year Chris went. This year I went and took McKenna with us while my sister watched Brooklynn for me. I was worried McKenna would whine and complain the whole time and sit down and refuse to move. Nope, that was me. If you have hiked the Y, you will now know how out of shape I am. If you haven't, then let's pretend it was really grueling...because it was, for me. I have been walking daily for the past few weeks about 2-3 miles a day so I thought I'd do ok. I was wrong. It is ALL up hill obviously and the trail is rough, bumpy, uneven and has lots of loose gravel. So both up and down have their own set of challenges. I made it though and I'm proud of myself for actually make it. I can't believe all the people we saw packing kids! Aside from that, I was a nervous wreck watching the kids all run around up there. The grade of the actual "Y" is pretty steep and I could just see a kid running and tripping and rolling...and rolling...so yeah, I was pretty nervous with McKenna. But we all made it up and down safely and only one minor bump (McKenna was running and tripped on the trail about half-way down. No major bleeding so all is well.) I was really proud of McKenna. The day before we walked 3 miles at her school walk-a-thon together and then 2 miles up and down on our hike. Such a trooper! Lauren did great. Those older kids have such boundless energy. They'd run up ahead, then run back to check on the old folks, then run up again. They still had plenty of energy when it was all over. It was fun but I don't know that I'll do it again soon and I am SO glad I didn't have Brooklynn (Thank you Julie!!).When Chris and I both got home a noon we thought we'd take it easy and rest but we couldn't justify wasting a beautiful Saturday when so many chores needed to be done outside. Chris tilled up our garden spot and mowed the jungle..er..backyard. Tyler tackled the front yard and the neighbors. We also deep cleaned our bedroom which always gets neglected and I packed up all the winter clothes and dug out summer clothes for the girls. So finally at 8pm we finished all of our chores, cleaned up and settled in to watch Lost. It was a very productive day.

That looks really steep, I would be a nervous wreck. Good job in doing it. Love ya.
You are such a good mom to do that. They will remember that day forever.
That sounds like so much fun! Nervous fun at the top of course, but still fun. Does your butt hurt? I'm pretty sure mine would.
What a great experience! I am way impressed. Good job to you all. I loved the pictures.
