Little Bits of Randomness

Things have been busy around here as usual so I haven't had much time to post. And when I have, I've been posting recipes. So, because I'm tired of my last post being the first thing I see, I have to change it. School has been in full swing for a month and a half and the kids seem to being doing good. We'll find out this week at parent teacher conferences. Soccer and Football are coming to a close here soon. Lauren's team has had what I think you might refer to as a "re-building" year. They aren't dead last, but 2nd to dead last with a 1-1-5 record. She still loves to play but this hasn't been her favorite year.

Tyler is loving football and doing great. His team is in 3rd right now. He has had some really good tackles & sacks, an interception, a good kick-off return and is doing great kicking this year. We love watching the kids play. We have all been sick the past several weeks with horrible colds and Chris might have had the swine flu. It's taken me two weeks to finally convince him to go to the doctor. He's there now. He hasn't been this sick for so long in a long time. He's missed a whole week of work. Back in September he celebrated his 40th birthday but wouldn't let me do anything for it. He was quite the party pooper. My sister Lisa however, who's in the monkey business, made him a sweet (as in cool, not awhhh, sweet) Harry Potter-ish monkey. She's so clever. Makes my giftcard to her husband seem pretty lame.

She also worked her magic on Lauren's beloved "Sally" who had been loved to death and beyond.

I was convinced that she just made a new monkey, but she assures me she didn't. She likes a good challenge apparently.

Lastly, the weather went crazy on us and last week Tuesday was in the 80's, had the a/c on in the car and swamp cooler on in the house. The next day, we woke up to freezing weather, snow on the mountains and ice on the ground. I had to turn the furnace on! The way the sun was hitting the autumn leaves on the mountains with the snow up above was pretty. I hope we get Fall back though. It is one of my favorites.

That's all for us folks! Oh, and enjoy our alien dog with the evil glowing eyes.

Wow! Great posts! Loved all the pics! Let us know how Chris is and what he found out from the Dr. He needs a 'priesthood blessing.' :o) The snow/auntmn picture is very pretty! I can't believe how bix Roxy is getting! Happy to hear the kids doing so well in sports and enjoying it. Good luck with the P/T Conf. this week for the kids! :o)

I can't believe you let it out of the box! Well, between your skele-monkey and evil eyed alien dog, at least the kids have some options to point to should any mysterious mischief take place...

Oh yeah, and in the spirit of full disclosure, I completely, and I mean COMPLETELY copied this monkey here:

I figured since it was a gift and I would never EVER sell it, that made it okay?

I just love your blogs. I hope Christopher is feeling better. That flu is a nasty one.

Ok, that picture of the sock monkey saying 'help me' is hilarious - I love that it was so well taken care of. =)

Also, I know how you feel about your slippahs breaking - my favorite pair of 5 years broke last year and I felt like I should have a service for them - so sad!

Lastly - I'm so glad that you liked those recipes from Easy as a Menu! I am so happy that someone is really using the recipes! Hurray! And I looove the butternut squash chowder, too - sorry your kids weren't so into it! =)
