Yes, I know it's half-way through February but I have been CRAZY busy lately. But after Christmas Eve at my Grandma's in Oregon, we headed up North to visit Chris' brother Kenny and his family. We had a wonderful, but too short, visit with them and enjoyed a yummy dinner and dessert. Then we headed over to my parents to spend a couple of days with them. While we were there we took a day trip into Tacoma to visit the
Washington Museum of History. They had a train show going on and so we got to see that as well. The kids had a fun time with all the interactive displays. They got to dress up like pioneers, ride in wagons, learn about the great Northwest and see a LOT of trains. I think my favorite part might have been getting to eat at our favorite Thai restaurant, Indochine, conveniently located right across from the museum. YUMM-O!! Maybe the most exciting part of the day was riding the light-rail into the museum. We aren't city folks so this was quite an adventure! After visiting the museum, we walked across the "bridge of glass". I don't know what it is really called, but it is a pedestrian bridge over the main road in Tacoma and on the other side is the
Chihuly Glass studio. The bridge is lined on both sides and above with his art. It was pretty cool.
Our little train conductors.
Tyler really liked this military train exhibit.
Brooklynn was a little too short to see most of the train exhibits.
Brooklynn & McKenna try driving a covered wagon.
Above - the wall of glass on the Chihuly bridge of glass. Below - the ceiling.
The outdoor glass sculpture by Chihuly. It is quite a bit taller than this but this was all I could get in the picture. I thought it looked like a rock candy crystal type sucker. My mom thinks they look like garbage bags.

So much more fun sounding than our day in Tacoma! And I totally think of rock candy, every time! I have never once thought of garbage bags. Mom and her imagination...she and the other 3% of the human population that see things their way.
We live here, and I've never been to this place. I love the ceiling glass, it's gorgeous! In my defense...I saw the 'rock candy' being assembled and they had the 'rock candy' covered in plastic until the unveiling and I'm sorry, but you're driving up the freeway and look up and see these huge 'blue garbage bags?' what were they thinking! Oh well... ♥
