We Love America

Last week McKenna had her First Grade Patriotic performance in honor of President's Day. They have been learning all about our country and learning some patriotic songs. It was a cute little program. McKenna was a dancer and for some reason was really bothered by the fact that she had to dance with a boy. She was also very annoyed with the "itchy" hat she had to wear and complained about it all day. I thought they looked cute. So most of the program consisted of her fidgeting in her seat, scratching her head, playing with her flag, staring off into the audience, playing with her sweater and giving us some really cheesy grins when she saw the camera. But, at this age, whenever your kids do anything, especially school programs, they are the cutest things ever, right? Right!

McKenna - group on the right, front row, second from the left.

This is the video of her dance which I have edited and shortened to spare you the details of such a repetitive dance. By the way, No, I did not get the denim "skirt" memo. Bad mom. McKenna had to resort to curtsying with her sweater...awkward. If it weren't for my friends Kelly and Katie we probably would have missed this program all together. Thank you for keeping me informed. I was a bit preoccupied this month with other things. Anyway, about half way through the video the couple to the right of McKenna are completely off and just crack me up. Too cute. And, the poor boy on her left...had no partner, but did his darndest to do that dance without one. Again...how cute is that?!

That little boy dancing without a partner was so funny! And all the kids all doubled over so we can see the dancers - that is just priceless! :)
