First Day of School 2010

Well, at long last the first day of school has arrived! The summer flew by but I just can't handle the non-structure. I would really do well with year-round school...a little structure, a little break, a little structure, a little break...that would fit my style nicely. I feel like such a mean mom though as a lot of people post about how they are going to miss having their kids home with them and the tears that are shed when dropping them off. Man, I want to throw a party! Tears? Tears of HAPPINESS! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my kids, but I need them to be at school and they need to be away from me for a bit. I know I'll look back on this one day and feel differently and wish they were still little, but for now...I'm glad school has started. Speaking of time flying, it really does seem like just yesterday that we were Here and Here.

Tyler started Jr. High this year! Gasp! Everyone asks if I can believe that I have a kid in Jr. High now. Truthfully, it doesn't feel that shocking. Mostly I think because I'm older and could really have a Sr. in high school if we'd had kids right away. So a Jr. High kid doesn't seem that old. But the thing that does make me nervous is that it's a new school and one that I don't know inside and out and I don't know all the teachers and employees and now he has all these new friends and so many teachers. THAT, makes me nervous. He has also changed and seems SO much more grown up this year. He was adamant this year that we not take any pictures. I was not allowed to follow him to the bus stop with my camera. He did finally consent to this picture...because nobody would see.
Lucky for me, the bus stop is just across the street and down a bit from our house. Lucky for me...I can zoom! Hee hee.
He thought he could hide behind the pole. Oh well, his friend Sara was nice and waved to me!
And, his friend Spencer's mom was there and she took a picture for me. Thanks Heather!
Then the bus came and off they went. Bye bye Tyler, have a great day! I didn't say I wouldn't take any pictures, I just said I wouldn't follow you to the bus stop!
The girls all ready for the first day

Lauren and Miss Skinner - 5th Grade
Lauren LOVES her teacher. She tells me fifty times a day that she is the BEST teacher EVER! I have to say that even though Tyler didn't have her, I have always been impressed with her. She is such a fun teacher.

McKenna and Mrs. Almberg - 2nd Grade
McKenna is very excited to have Mrs. Almberg. Tyler and Lauren both had her and she is FANTASTIC! The other 2nd grade teacher is great too so you really can't go wrong. It's going to be a great year. (The theme in her class is a western theme, thus the cowboy hat...didn't want you to think I sent her to school with a cowboy hat on...not that there is anything wrong with that...nevermind.)

Every year we take photos with the same group of friends from our neighborhood. It's been fun to watch them grow together. I wish they could all stay around here forever.

Lauren & McKenzie

McKenna's Posse - Kylee, Katelin, Morgan & McKenna
So cute...they were all holding hands.
(Katelin was coming, she just ran to talk to her mom and by the time she got back and I got my lame camera focused again, they had disappeared into the crowd.)

BREAKING NEWS: Brooklynn just found out today that she will be starting Pre-school here on Sept. 1st. She is SOOOO excited!!!

Great post! Loved all the pictures, as always! :o) I just saw them a month ago and I can't believe how much older and grown they look! Spencer really shot up in height! Wow! His mom must have to buy pants every other month! Ouch! I'm sure by Christmas Tyler will sprout as well! So exicting they've all started school. '3' beautiful and wonderful hours for just 'you'! Wahoo!

Um, I think you said Jr High, but Tyler's picture is most definetly not how old I remember all my 7th graders looking. Sheesh! I should escort him in the halls at his school with a sign that says, "Get in line now girlies - it's gonna be huge when he's 16!"
Now seriously - what ARE you going to do with your kid-free hours?!
