Brooklynn turns 5!

Our sweet little baby Brooklynn Grace turned 5 last week. I can't believe she is five years old. I can believe that she is the baby though. She is like no other child we have had. In both good and bad. She has got some serious personality, wit and wisdom beyond her years at times. She is always cracking us up. She was born on January 22, 2006 and weighed in at 10 pounds, 3 ounces. All my kids were 10+ pounds so why stop now. I was scheduled to be induced on a Monday morning and my water broke Saturday night. She was born Sunday morning. She was an easy delivery and by far my BEST recovery. I had never left the hospital earlier than 3 days and this time I left the next day!! Very exciting.

Brooklynn is such a funny girl. She really has a fun personality from silly faces, responses, witty comments, etc. She picks up on a lot of things most kids would miss. She is a girl who knows what she wants! She is fussy about what she wears and has been from the beginning. Right now she ONLY wants to wear dresses. She will NOT wear something if she thinks it makes her look "hideous". Since she was a little baby, she has loved spicy food. This really makes her dad and I happy. She wants to do everything the big kids do and won't be left out. She is absolutely sure she can keep up. She started pre-school this year and LOVES it, once she gets there anyway. She's become a HUGE mama's girl the past several months and that has caused some separation anxiety issues. However, once she is there she wishes she could stay all day and eat lunch too! She started soccer this year and took to it like a duck to water. We didn't quite know what to expect but after spending her whole life on the sidelines, she was ready! This year was her first friend party and she was so darling while we planned it all out. She knew EXACTLY what she wanted. Every time I would offer another suggestion or try to convince her of something better, she wouldn't have any of it. Like the drink. It was very important that we had pink lemonade and NOT pink sherbet and sprite. Go figure. Her cake had to be PLAIN, not yellow, not lemon, not white with sprinkles. P-L-A-I-N, PLAIN! It was. And she wanted a princess theme and her presents had to be wrapped in pink princess paper. Yes, she's a little particular. But we love her. I love that she asks if we can please have Chicken Tikka Masala or Mafe for dinner. What five year olds ask for that?? Mine does and it makes me happy. I love that she cried her eyes out today because I told her she couldn't go clean the church tonight for FHE because she was sick. She was heartbroken and was so upset because it would be FOREVER until we could do it again (March is forever away for a five year old). So, we took let her go. I am so glad she is part of our family. It wouldn't be the same without her. Happy 5th Birthday Brooklynn!

I love when you post a picture from each year, I might have to start doing that when my girls have birthdays. She's such a cute, sweet girl. Give her a squish from me:)
