Author's Tea

So our busy birthday day continued. After opening presents, I walked the kids to school, then came home and watched Julie's boys for her. We ran a few errands and then headed to the school so I could help judge the "Battle of the Books" for the upper grades. Then I ran over to McKenna's class for her "Author's Tea". In second grade the students get to research an animal and write their very own hardcover book. McKenna chose to research Coyotes and drew some beautiful pictures. They talked all about how NOT to plagiarize and put information into their own words. They work on them for about 3 months at school. At the end of the year they invite the parents in so they can read us their books and have desserts and juice. After we read our own child's book we then find another student and have them read us their book. I didn't think to have someone take our picture while we were reading but I did take her picture with one of the other parents. It was a fun afternoon.
