I haven't decorated cakes in a long time. Brooklynn had seen one of these Barbie cakes somewhere and told me that's what she wanted for her birthday. I have made a few before but it's been awhile. Brooklynn was very specific and wanted purple cake, pink frosting and purple ice cream. The first batch of cake I forgot to add the purple food coloring and had to make another batch. Then I ran out of pink frosting and had to make another batch of that. Then I made the dress too small so I had to improvise with the leftover cake batter I had put in round pans. I think it turned out ok but it definitely was not my best work. By midnight I called it good and figured Brooklynn wouldn't care. As for the purple ice cream, we had grape floats...that's as close to purple ice cream as I could figure out.
Cute side note: Brooklynn was so excited about her birthday and the cake and all the excitement that she forgot to make a birthday wish. She came to me the next day and asked if it was too late. I asked her what she what she had wanted to wish for and she said, "You to have two baby boys in your tummy!" Phew! Good thing she forgot to make her wish!
Brooklynn had a pretty long wish list for her birthday but one of the interesting things she asked for was a framed picture to match the other kids. I have these frames in our hallway for each of the kids with 3 black and white photos of close-ups. We made these when McKenna was a baby and by the time we had Brooklynn I had kind of forgotten about it. At one time I had picked out some pictures and bought a frame but I never printed the pictures and framed them. I guess she was feeling left out. I didn't think she noticed. Now she is an official member of our family!Happy Birthday Brooky Boo!

hahaha, the snowman kit is AWESOME!
And I was totally going to ask you about those B&W pics of Brooklynn on her bday because I was pretty sure they were new. Adorable!
p.s. my word verification is "ungir", which is reminding me of "hunger" - as in Hunger Games!
When are we going?!
Loved the cake! Loved her new pictures!:o)
Wow, what an absolutely beautiful barbie cake. You are so clever and are such a good mum to keep redoing things until you got it right! I'm going to print the cake photo so I can copy it one day. Also, love the idea of the pancakes and all the things you turned them into, will have to copy that as well! As for her birthday wish...she's only 6, you must make her happy and make her wish come true!!! lol (but just ONE boy will do) :):):)
