Wascally Wabbits

So we have added rabbits to our little backyard farm. I found a great deal on ksl.com and we "hopped" on it. The bunnies aren't the nicest bunnies on the block but it was a great deal to get everything we needed to get started in the bunny business. They aren't used to kids and need their nails trimmed. The kids kept fighting over what to name the bunnies so Chris left it up to me, promising the kids they could name all the baby bunnies someday. Lauren is obsessed with the Hunger Games and really wanted names from the book. I thought Peeta Wabbit would be pretty funny so we went with that for the boy. Then you can't really name the boy bunny Peeta without naming the girl bunny Katniss, so Katniss and Peeta it is.

McKenna really wants baby chickens right now. One day after running errands we came home to find that McKenna had gone to work building a little chicken playpen. Complete with a bowl full of food, one with water and a dollar to contribute to purchasing a new chick. It was pretty cute and pretty difficult to break her little heart and tell her that baby chicks just weren't in the plan this year. The next day we brought home the rabbits and she seems to be ok doting on them for now.
Our next addition you might ask? If Tyler has his way, a backyard pond that we can raise fish in. He has big dreams of fishing in his own backyard. If Chris has his way - a goat. Realistically? I think we are done for now. We are just going to focus on our garden.
