New Years Resolutions

So, I made some new years resolutions as always. In the back of my mind I know I'll break them, I always do. I try each year not too, surely this will be the year I stick to them. Ha! Well, I made several in the typical areas of life, physical, spiritual, mental, etc. I have to say, I'm doing pretty good so far, definitely room for improvement, but I'm trying. However, in one area, I'm doing exceptional. I have to brag, because if you really know me, you'll know how very hard this is for me. I decided that I was going to give up chocolate. 100% cold turkey. Not even a smidgen or a morsel, not in any form. Why? Well, duh? I am a serious addict and I knew I had a problem when I was consuming more chocolate in a day than other food items. When Chris would go to make chocolate chip cookies and ask where the chocolate chips were, and complain that he knew I had just bought some. So, I'm giving it up. Everyone asks me, "Surely you aren't giving it up forever are you?" No, I'm not. I just need to be able to walk past the giant Symphony bars at Wal-Mart, right up front on a huge display, on sale for just .97 cents, and be able to say to myself, "hmm, that might be a nice treat", and seriously make it last a week. As opposed to right now, where I walk by salivating and needing to handcuff my hands to the cart and secretly picture myself snarfing it down in 6.2 seconds and wanting more. The first step is admitting you have a problem right? So, I will eat chocolate again, but not now and not for a while. I am proud to say that since January 1st. I have not eaten one morsel (not even the stale chocolate chip I found on the pantry floor that looked like heaven the other day) not in any form. I've been 100% chocolate free for longer than I have ever been in my life. It feels good, not to be cheating. My family has tempted me in several ways just to see if I was for real. I have resisted...no thanks to Lauren who caught me off-guard and tried to tempt me with a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (my favorite)...but Chris caught me and reminded me of my quest. Thanks honey! So on I go, 14 days down, many more to go. Happy New Year!

Wow, what an impressive goal! You are my inspiration!! I told Christopher (mine =) two years ago that that was my goal for New Year's and he flat out told me to my face that there was no way I could ever do it (I know, thanks for the support, right?). Anyway, so maybe next year I'll make the big jump and do it. Keep us posted! =)
