Wow! What a fun Fourth of July weekend we had. We left early Thursday morning for Malad so we could be there by noon to help out with the annual Salmon Bake. It usually coincides with the 4th. Chris’ dad started the Salmon bake as a fundraiser for their wards Boy Scouts so he is in charge every year. I stayed at the house and got settled in while Chris and his dad headed down to start cooking fish. Later we all met up at the park for dinner and visiting. After it was over, we headed back for the traditional “Smores & Fireworks”. The coals from the Salmon Bake make excellent conditions for roasting marshmallows and making Smores. Then the boys and kids started setting of Round 1 of fireworks. We love going to Idaho because they have a lot better fireworks than here in Utah. The next morning we were up early to watch the Parade. It is such a fun, small town parade. The kids scored enough salt water taffy to last us until next July. After the Parade the kids headed into town for the Old Town Shootout while Chris and I stopped by to put flowers on his Mom’s grave. She was born on the 4th of July so it was always her favorite holiday and why we always come to Malad for the 4th. Then we all loaded up and were off to the Ranch for a BBQ, shooting and 4-wheeling. We had a great BBQ with lots of yummy food and the kids had a blast running free. Then we came back to the house to relax and prepare for Round 2 of fireworks. At dusk we went to the town fireworks show which can give any big city budget a run for their money. Saturday we just relaxed and lounged around until after lunch and then we took the kids to the pool for a few hours. That night Grandpa took the older kids to the melodrama playing at the theater. They really enjoyed it and then Grandpa let them walk home (following them in the car). The kids thought they were pretty cool to walk home. Sunday we went to church, came home and had dinner then packed up and drove home. We had such a fun time. The kids all took turns sleeping out in the tent. It was a very relaxing trip. We didn’t want to come home. I love going to Since we took so many pictures, I posted them on

my dropshots page (link to the right).

I'm so glad you had such a great time in Malad! :o) It was good for all of you! What special memories! It was good for Darl since Jenna's birthday being on the 4th and her being gone. It kept him busy and happy.
Love ya!
Mom :o)
