So Long, Farewell....

So as we packed up to come home, we unpacked Lauren and got her settled in. The Gleed family has a tradition that every summer, all the grandkids who have turned 8 in the past year come to stay with Grandma and Grandpa. Usually there are 2 or 3 grandkids that come and stay. Since my kids are so much younger than all the rest, we had to move to 2nd cousins for Tyler and Lauren. Chris’ cousin Rebekah’s little girl, Meghan, will be 8 the first part of August so she and Lauren are staying in Malad with Grandpa for two weeks. Since Meghan’s parents left her off on the 4th, she started her 2 weeks a couple of days before Lauren did since we weren’t leaving until Sunday. From the time they left Lauren kept asking us to go home. She was ready to start her two weeks “without” us. She was pretty excited for us to go and her to have her special vacation at Grandpa’s. I know she’ll have so much fun but it is really hard to let her go. This is her first time away from home. When we got home, we called to check on her and they have already planned out every day. They were eating pizza, having makeovers and watching Shirley Temple movies. Grandpa said his biggest worry was what to do about hair! He announced in Sunday School today (he was teaching) that he needed some female volunteers to come over every morning and make the girls presentable so their mom’s didn’t worry. I have to admit, that’s my biggest concern, Lauren looking like a little ragamuffin for two weeks. She has a lot of hair to deal with. Anyway, I miss her already. For now, I’m back to only having 3 kids at home.

Sounds like you guys had such an awesome weekend. I can't believe Lauren is ready to be away from home for two whole weeks. I think we can all recall I wasn't ready for that kind of separation until I was in highschool, and even then it was somewhat kick-ey and scream-ey, it's probably better for her this way:) what a special time to spend with grandpa.

I'm sure the girls know how to comb their hair to 'their liking.' However I'm sure Darl will need an 'extra supply' of shampoo and conditioner! What fun they're going to have! Separation pains, ahhh, the first of many! :o)
Love ya!
Mom :o)

Oh, I LOVE IT! Grandpa sounds like he is going to have those little girls wrapped around his finger by the end of it. Pizza, Shirley Temple movies, makeovers...can I go?
