So after the visit with Santa, it was time to look for a tree. It had been snowing all day and it's always so much messier to look for a tree in inclement weather. But we headed out after a quick stop at home to change clothes and grab rope. We drove around for a while...I sure do miss Oregon's U-Cut tree farms this time of year...and their price...but we didn't find anything before we reached meltdown stage so we headed home for lunch and naps. While I was standing at the kitchen window I looked out to our scraggly looking tree and told Chris we should just cut that down and save ourselves $50. He said, "Ok". We asked the kids what they thought and all but McKenna agreed. She felt like we should drive around for our tree not get it out of our backyard. 10 minutes later, we had a tree. Brooklynn really loves our "special" tree. Everyday she tells me, "mommy, I just love our tree". And McKenna is fine with it now too. I present...drumroll please...the Gleed Family Christmas Tree.
After hiking miles through the cold and the snow, the tired hikers come across a lone, unidentified tree and decide "This Is the Tree".
Dad gets straight to work cutting down the tree enduring the cold snow falling all around him.
Finally, after what seems like hours of exhausting sawing, the tree is ready to be drug home.
Tada! After hours, no really, this time it was hours, of fighting, arguing, broken ornaments and lots of re-hanging, the tree is done and doesn't look half bad. It has a "rustic" look about it.
A holiday tradition - Krumkakes...yummy. This was started in Chris' family and we have carried it on in ours. We always have these when we decorate the tree. For the recipe, go here.

I like your tree very much!
And I'm VERY interested in those Krumkakes...
Yes, please post that recipe on your Gleed Cafe site. :o) Sure looks yummy! The tree is a sugar pine and my mom would have loved it! It was her favorite kind of tree! :o)
