“This involves a drama which a man observed at a neighborhood supermarket. As he entered the glass door, he couldn't help noticing a young mother with a two-year-old who, before they even began her dreaded store odyssey, was already howling. He observed the patient-looking mother as she gently placed the child in the grocery cart, and overheard her saying, "Now, Jennifer, this isn't going to be so bad. We just have a few things to get today and then we'll be finished. Let's be calm, and everything will be all right."
For the next 15 minutes, everyone in the store was painfully aware of where the mother and child were as the little two-year-old never quit her rantings and ravings. He saw the mother again at the dairy case with the child, still blubbering and insisting on something that she felt she had to have at that moment that was obviously unavailable. This time he heard the mother, who was now hyperventilating and trying her best to keep her emotions in check, say in a shaky but determined voice, "Jennifer, we only have three more things on our list and then we can be out in the nice, fresh air and we can breathe, and everything is going to be just fine!"
As he happened to be going out the door at the same moment as the hassled young mother, he couldn't resist catching up to her on her way out. With an understanding smile, he said, "Excuse me, but I just have to tell you how much I admire the way you talk to your child." The mother looked momentarily a little confused. Then, as though she suddenly realized what had happened, she smiled and replied, "Well, thank you, you're very kind, sir. But there is something you should know. . . I am Jennifer.”

HA! That's so funny, I totally talk myself through situations like that! I was not expecting that ending.
I had the blogging blahs a few months ago...for...like 5 months. I'm still in remission, I'm definitely not back up to par, I totally understand that need for a break!
